Which applicant tracking system do Indian companies use? Keka is ahead of Workday.
Short answer: Counted by number of employers rather than number of roles, Keka leads with 376 Indian employers, just ahead of Workday with 369. SmartRecruiters follows at 115. The Indian market is not a straight copy of the American one.
By employer
Employers with at least one live role open to India, grouped by the platform their careers board runs on.
| Platform | Indian employers |
|---|---|
| Keka | 376 |
| Workday | 369 |
| SmartRecruiters | 115 |
| Greenhouse | 97 |
| Ashby | 95 |
| Workable | 69 |
| Own site, structured data | 36 |
| Freshteam | 29 |
| Breezy | 26 |
| Zoho Recruit | 12 |
Why count employers rather than roles
Because counting roles would tell you about Accenture and almost nobody else. A handful of enterprises on Workday publish tens of thousands of requisitions between them, which buries the shape of the market under one procurement decision.
Counting employers answers the question people actually mean: if I pick an Indian company at random, what am I likely to be applying through?
The home advantage is real
Keka and Zoho Recruit are both Indian products, and Freshteam came out of Freshworks in Chennai. Put together they cover a serious share of Indian mid-market hiring. That is not a given. Many software categories in India are won outright by American incumbents, and recruiting software has not gone that way below the enterprise tier.
The split is roughly by company size. Workday holds the large enterprises and the Indian arms of multinationals, which is why it carries so many roles on so few employers. Keka holds a long tail of Indian companies in the hundreds-of-employees range. Greenhouse and Ashby cluster around funded product startups, which matches where their sales effort goes globally.
Why a candidate might care
Mostly you should not have to. The application form is the application form.
Where it matters is in how the job reaches you. Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby publish clean public listings, so roles on those platforms travel well and turn up in indexes like ours quickly and completely. Some other platforms publish a listing with the advert body one click away, which means an aggregator reading the board sees a title and little else.
That has a practical effect on you. A role whose text is published openly gets matched on its actual requirements. A role that publishes only a title gets matched on the title. If your experience is in the body of the advert rather than in its name, the platform the employer chose shapes whether you are found.
Why we care
Each platform is a separate piece of work for us. A provider has its own listing format, its own pagination, its own way of expressing location and date, and its own rules about what it will serve. Adding one is a day or two of careful reading and then a permanent maintenance obligation.
So this table is also our roadmap. The platforms with many employers and no support yet are where the next material coverage gain sits, and the ones with few employers are not worth the maintenance whatever their brand recognition.
Method
An employer is counted once per platform, on the platform its public careers board runs on. Employers using more than one board appear once for each. Only employers with at least one live role open to India are included.
Counted on 5 October 2026. Each posting was last re-read from its board on or before 29 September 2026.
Common questions
What is the most used ATS in India?
By number of employers with live India roles in our index, Keka with 376, narrowly ahead of Workday with 369. By number of roles the answer is Workday, because large enterprises publish far more requisitions each.
Do Indian companies use Indian recruiting software?
A substantial share do. Keka, Zoho Recruit and Freshteam are Indian products and together account for a large part of the mid-market. Workday dominates the enterprise tier.
Does the applicant tracking system affect my application?
Rarely in how you apply. It matters in how the role is published: platforms that publish the full advert publicly let search tools match on your actual skills, while platforms that publish only a title mean you are matched on the title alone.
